I came across this resort about 2 years ago after researching U.S. Relais and Chateaux properties, and MY GOSH – this place is stunning! Not only is it in Hawaii, one of the most beautiful islands in the world, but the amenities and service levels here appear to be of the highest caliber. I don’t know about you, but the ambiance at this property is definitely calling me...
An adult-only resort with less than 80 suites, it is impressive that they were voted the #1 resort in Hawaii by Cond Nast. Their 72 one-bedroom suites are described as “contemporary architecture with beach-modern design” and come furnished with “720 square feet of space, separate bedroom and living areas, luxury linens, deep soaking tubs, kitchenettes, wireless internet, flat screen TVs, plush bathrobes, and private lanais with chaise lounges and chairs” (1, The Suites). The suites are designed with high-end, sustainable materials and wood. The resort even has a video for guests that features their suites, food and unique environment.
Aside from the luxury suites offered, the property offers an intense level of experiences for those with are able to splurge. Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie, a foodie, a yogi or a couch potato, they have something for you. Choose from cooking classes, various styles of yoga, relaxing spa services, mixology class, kiteboarding, sailing, outrigger canoeing, and even renting a reproduction of the vintage ’57 Porsche 356 Speedstar to drive around the island for a day (2). Talk about luxury!!
There are three different dining experiences on-site, with multiple awards listed and most notably, The Restaurant at Hotel Wailea was voted most romantic restaurant in America. The hotel focuses on island to table cuisine, working with local suppliers and using products from their own property to provide guests with high-quality, fresh, seasonal and artisanal products. The Treehouse offers a private and more intimate dining experience, indulging in the Chef’s 7-course tasting menu among a canopy of mango trees. Lastly, The Lounge offers evening entertainment and social environment amidst a waterfall (3).
With over 1,3000 reviews on TripAdvisor and nearly perfect star ratings from travelers, who wouldn’t want to stay at this tropical paradise in Maui!?
