If you have a significant other in your life and/or co-habitat together, then you have likely discussed starting some shared traditions. Even if you aren’t a couple (close friends, roommates, siblings, etc.), traditions can be adopted in all relationship types and for many reasons.
Traditions often revolve around holidays (take Christmas for example), but can also be related to significant dates, events or times of the year - think anniversary, birthdays, official first date, etc. We personally have several of traditions that we have embraced – ordering in dinner on monthiversaries, dining out on the anniversary of my car accident [to celebrate that I didn’t die!], preparing a food buffet on New Year’s Eve, celebrating with dinner out when celebrating work-related success (promotions, raises, etc.). If you didn’t gather already, many of our celebrations are accompanied by food, which we both love and enjoy!
This year for the holiday season, we are introducing a new tradition – a movie marathon over the Christmas break featuring a franchise movie series (this year is Die Hard). Something we can do annually together that we both enjoy because nearly endless movies in comfy pjs always satisfies.
