There’s nothing like getting a surprise from your Boo, especially a nice one. Being in a successful relationship undoubtedly must include acts of kindness and thoughtfulness towards your partner. It can be something as simple as making dinner when you know s/he is working late or something that involves a little more planning… like a day or weekend trip somewhere secret! It’s all part of the surprise and it keeps day-to-day life fun and spontaneous.
We do little things for each other here and there on a regular basis and it is really refreshing for both of us. After a busy day at work, spontaneously offering to take your lover out for dinner or a movie might be the relief s/he needs; A drive to somewhere unknown to discover that together, you get to eat as much sushi as you can take; Picking up a new and faster gadget for him/her and giving it willingly, not because it’s a birthday or anniversary, but because they mentioned that it was something they wanted. Not only does it make the gift receiver happy, but it leaves the gift giver satisfied and proud too because s/he knows what their other half values and likes (a few brownie points never hurt either). It’s an opportunity to connect, to show your loved one that you care and that you share in their interests (or at least try to).
Aside from the little, but important stuff, there’s the bigger stuff too. This might include an afternoon in the city to see Phantom of the Opera followed by dinner, an overnight stay at a hotel with a pool, a fun opportunity to practice your skills (photography session, art class, axe throwing, whatever that skill may be), or a new experience for the both of you (like virtual reality games). And depending on your level of tricksy-ness, you can playfully tease him/her about what it could be, play a mind ninja and shoot them clues that are completely unrelated, or simply say nothing and let the actions speak for themselves. It’s up to you how you want to play the game, but either way, it’s a win-win for both parties. Don’t forget to do a little something special for your Boo just cuz, too!
What pleasant surprises have made you happy? What have you planned for your significant other? Share your ideas! See, win-win!
